Sharon Mac Farlane Show
Shari paints intuitively, using brilliant colors to express herself. In her abstract works, she begins with broad strokes of bright color, sometimes adding collage and her own hand-painted papers. The artist begins with simple brush strokes, with no plan for the outcome, and is often surprised by the subject of the painting upon completion. The resulting paintings are from her own spiritual journey which leads viewers through their own personal experience.
Shari MacFarlane studied art at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Her recent instructors include Shirley Blanchard (watercolor painting), Joyce McCarten of the Alexandria Art League School (abstract drawing and painting), and Tara Funk Grim of Bethany Beach, Delaware (collage and abstract painting).
For the past 25 years, she has had her own successful fabric painting business. Now her self-expression has moved in another direction. She is a member of the Vienna Arts Society and the Art League Gallery at the Torpedo Factory.
