The purpose of the Society is to bring together
area artists to share interests, to enrich their own experience in art and
to make contributions to the community. As a volunteer organization, it is
highly regarded as a well run organization, respected for always striving
for high standards in the art field. Members are encouraged to broaden their
interests in all areas of art, through workshops, art excursions and monthly
meetings, demonstrations, lectures and critiques.

The words “Bright Beginnings” can be interpreted many
different ways: a new life,
a new year, fresh start and daybreak are just a few examples.
No matter how these words are interpreted they almost always
evoke feelings of hope and optimism.

Contemporary
Impressionistic Art Demonstration
by Elaine Elinsky. Elaine
will be discussing how she approaches her subject and will give a
brief demonstration. She considers herself a contemporary
impressionistic artist using color and brush strokes to create still
life and landscape paintings. She comes from a family of creative
people. Her father was a talented wood carver who created carousel
horses and a variety of other playful and colorful wood sculptures and
pictures. Her brother is a well-known stained glass artist in England.
His studio in London produces both traditional and contemporary
windows for public and private spaces. She is part of the Great Falls
Artist Atelier. Her work is available through the Chasen gallery in Bottom
of Form
at
the Vienna Arts Society's general membership meeting. Free and open to
the public. 10:00 a.m. - noon, Thursday, Feb. 9, Vienna Art Center,
115 Pleasant St., NW, Vienna.
