I am a self-taught artist with a B.A. in English literature and economics and an M.A. in international development. After working many years for the federal government and various NGO’s, I decided to pursuit my creative endeavors full-time in order to make an impact on the issues that matter most to me. I have studied extensively with established artists, honing my skills in acrylic, mixed-media, and watercolor.
I am now an artist, writer, and beekeeper dedicated to experiencing and interpreting nature to its fullest. My artwork depicts the symbiotic relationship between the natural world and the living universe. My studio, Earth Atelier, is named for the natural inspiration I find through hiking, cycling, and kayaking in America’s national parks and beyond. When possible, I visit ecologically sensitive areas, learning about indigenous cultures and the environments on which they rely. My work frequently depicts environmental sustainability from the point of view of the flora and fauna that inhabit a particular landscape.
As a long-time Master Gardener, I’m continually working to expand native landscapes. I also write for numerous horticultural publications. Writing allows me to expand my understanding of the visual universe. I am fascinated by poets’ ability to paint images and create music through language. My artwork is often inspired by what I see and hear in verse.
I am a member of the Fairfax Art League, the League of Reston Artists, Falls Church Arts, and the Art League of Alexandria. For more information on my work, please contact me at email@example.com.
