Description of the Virtual Project

The first project, in June, was Chalk the Walk, to create messages of kindness, encouragement, and gratitude during this difficult time. Signs on Parade was our July focus, and next month we will Rock your August with inspirational messages painted on rocks and left in the Town Green and gardens at the Vienna Community Center. Every month, we are posting photos on the VAS website. Please send yours to If you upload your photo to your own social media, please add #VASArtofKindness, #ViennaArtsSociety, #VAS.

Interested donors/sponsors/performers

A main tenet of the Vienna Arts Society’s mission is to engage with the community and enhance public life through art.  VAS views the Art of Kindness event as a community builder and not a fundraising opportunity. We are not charging admission and are depending heavily on volunteers and donors.  Town officials strongly support the event and Vienna businesses are hosting submission boxes to make public participation as easy as possible.

If you are interested in performing at the event for free or donating to defray costs as an act of kindness, please reach out to our co-chairs, Marybeth Davis at or Mary Ellen Larkins at
