The Vienna Arts Society (VAS) is a membership group of artists and art lovers dedicated to enriching our community through the arts. Mark your calendars for our upcoming meetings at 7:00 pm on September 10, November 12, January 14, March 11, May 13 and July 8. Held on the 2nd Thursday of the month, our meetings are free of charge and open to the public. Each one features a demonstration by talented regional artists in various media. We will also hold a holiday party in December and an election meeting on June 17, 2027. In addition, VAS exhibits at galleries across Northern Virginia.

The Vienna Arts Society is organizing a trio of judged shows, opening on September 14th, October 12th and November 9th
Renowned local artists will judge each show, starting with Jill Banks, who will kick off our series with her insights about our acrylic and oil artwork. Marni Maree is on deck to judge our works on paper, and Amelia Hankin will step up to judge works in alternative media.
To see our prize-winning artwork and hear why our judges made their selections, join our receptions on Sept 27th (acrylics and oils), Oct 25th (works on paper) and Nov 22nd (alternative media).
Our 3 Treasures Trio shows will be held at the VAS Village Green Gallery at 513 Maple Avenue W in Vienna. Look for us inside the double doors. Call 703-319-3971 with any questions.

Join us every Wednesday from 1-4 pm and every Final Friday of the month, also from 1-4 pm, for VAS's open studios. Every week is something new: a copyist project, a still life, or a chance to continue working on your own projects.
Our open studios are free-of-charge and open to the public. Whatever your medium and whatever your level, this is the place to enjoy making art with your fellow artists.

Come meet Justin Worrell, nationally known Tonalist painter. He will share his process with us. Tonalism is a style of painting where closely related soft colors are used to create atmosphere in your work. James McNeil Whistler’s work is an example.

Watercolor artist Ruth Ensley's fabulous watercolor 'Autumn Shadows' was named Best of Show at the Vienna Arts Society's spring show at the Green Spring Gardens! Second and third prize winners were Lori Dawson for 'Fall on the North Fork' (Pastel) and Grace Rooney for 'Bee Buffet' (Watercolor on Yupo).
Melanie also announced the following honorable mentions, stressing that the entire show was full of winners:

Melanie Stanley is a multi media painter who uses hand painted/splattered rice papers and
mono prints to help build layers and textures with colorful inks and paints to create a rich glow in her artwork. If you ask her what her style is, she will answer, “Bright,
luscious COLOR!”
