I began drawing and painting as a child and continued through my graduate studies.  After following a completely different career path for the next 33 years, I retired and began taking studio and oil painting classes at Virginia’s Lorton Arts Center and then privately. I studied with Suzanne Clark, Diane Frykman, Marni Maree, and Trisha Adams.

I am inspired by places I have actually traveled to–I photograph them and paint from my photos in oils. I paint mostly representational and sometimes nearly photorealistic—including florals from my own prolific gardens. Still, my style is evolving and changing as I continue to paint.

My works have been in many shows and exhibits sponsored by the Vienna Arts Society, Fairfax Art League, Springfield Art Guild, Art Guild of Clifton, and Lorton Arts Center. Many of my paintings have won awards and been juried (selected by a judge to be included from a large pool) into many shows. For example, I

  • Received a Special Merit Award among 890 global submissions in the Light, Space & Time online gallery’s 6th Annual “All Women” art competition (Jan. 2017); a Special Recognition Award among 447 global submissions in its “Cityscapes” competition (Feb. 2017); and a Special Recognition Award among 674 global submissions for its “Animals” exhibition (May 2017).

In June 2015, and June 2016, I had solo art exhibits at the Clifton Wine Shop. I have sold many paintings and done several paintings on commission. One of my works is hanging in a private collection in Paris, France–others are in collections from California, to Iowa, to Delaware.

I am on the Boards of Directors and Advisors of the Vienna Arts Society (2016, 2017) and am a juried member of the Oil Painters of America organization.
