The Vienna Arts Society welcomes the public to free-of-charge virtual artist talks and demonstrations the second Thursday of each month.
Our featured artist in March is award-winning mid-Atlantic artist Peter Ulrich. Among his many awards are the highest honor at the Art League of Alexandria “Large Works” show at the Torpedo Factory Art Center both in 2005 and again in 2010, the “Best in Show” award for the annual juried show at the Mattawoman Creek Art Center in June 2013 and at the Potomac Valley Watercolorists Annual juried show in 2016. He has won awards at the BWS Annual Mid-Atlantic Regional Exhibition and was accepted into the National Watercolor Society Annual Competition both in 2009 and in 2016.
His work has hung in numerous galleries and corporate venues throughout the country and in Oxford, England, as well as in the homes of his many patrons. In 2010, he was commissioned to produce two large acrylic paintings for the lobby of the new Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Tyson’s Corner.
Peter has served as President of the Potomac Valley Watercolorists, Vice-President of the Art League of Alexandria and as a Board member of both organizations. He has also served as Chair of the Bin Gallery at the Torpedo Factory Art League Gallery.
Peter is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Baltimore Watercolor Society and the Potomac Valley Watercolorists.
Peter teaches online watercolor classes and workshops at the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia and at The Harmony Hall Regional Center in Fort Washington, Maryland. He has taught workshops throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, in the Cotswolds in England and in Southern France. He judges gallery and art society competitions and has performed numerous painting demonstrations at the Art League, the Potomac Valley Watercolorists, the Springfield Art Guild, The McLean Art Society, The Annapolis Art Club, The Vienna Arts Society and the Mattawoman Creek Art Center.
