Carl Landow

Artist and former architect Carl Landow believes that whether designing a successful building or rendering the true character of a landscape scene or a human face in watercolor, one goal remains paramount: the result should stand the test of time.

Mr. Landow learned basic drawing skills at The Rhode Island School of Design. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Architecture and Rice University with a Master in Architecture.

In 1966 he started his varied architectural career in Houston Texas. In 1974 he was invited to join the architecture faculty at the University of Virginia where he taught design, construction systems and drawing. He also maintained an active practice with others in Charlottesville, Virginia.

He then moved his practice to Vienna, Virginia where he now resides. Drawing and designing all manner of buildings has allowed him to keep honing his drawing skills.

Following his passion for portraiture, he participated in studios with celebrated artist Robert Liberace. He has also studied with watercolor artists John Lovett and Thomas Schaller. This experience has helped him to further develop his graphic skills.

Through the Vienna Arts Society in Vienna, Virginia he has also given drawing classes to children and adults.
