Discover the excitement of using acrylic color and mediums during this two-day workshop!  Students will combine both traditional and contemporary painting techniques using a range of color applications (like washes, glazes, and blending) layered with gels, mediums, and pastes.  We will explore several color formulations, experiment with a variety of mark making tools, and create unique textures.  We will develop several small painting surfaces throughout the workshop, so students get working knowledge of the breadth of acrylic products available.  This workshop is designed for painters of all experience levels!

All supplies needed for this workshop, including GOLDEN paints/mediums, tools, and painting surfaces, will be provided by the instructor.  Students should bring an apron or wear “paint clothes” in case things get messy!  Also bring note-taking supplies and a trash bag to lay in your car for taking your projects home (in case they are tacky/wet) – we will have about 6-8 surfaces sized 6×6 up to 9×12 inches.

Amy Shawley Paquette is a Virginia-based visual artist whose painting and illustration is inspired by the natural world.  Her paintings incorporate fauna, flora, landscapes, and textures she has experienced during her travels and daily adventures in the countryside.  After earning her Art History degree, developing her love of paint, and exhibiting her work in New York and LA, Amy was selected and trained in 2008 by Golden Artist Colors for their Working Artist Program.  She taught and lectured in their southern California territory for six years before relocating back east in to offer painting lectures in Virginia, Maryland, DC, and Delaware. In addition to her work with GOLDEN, Amy was trained in 2016 to be an Artist Lecturer for Williamsburg Oils.
Amy teaches art workshops nationally, offers online education, and published her first book in 2015.
