TAKE A SEAT, VIENNA
The Vienna Arts Society is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year by presenting an exciting, new public art display, “Take A Seat,Vienna”. See painted benches as public art displayed throughout the Town of Vienna beginning in April continuing through October 2019.
Take a Seat Vienna (TASV) and Sponsors, we have three events this summer that should encourage talking a walk with more “bench traffic.”
1- The Scavenger Hunt at Viva Vienna
Vienna Arts Society members will be passing out flyers and brochures and generally promote the project for Viva Vienna on Memorial Day weekend. Kiln & Custard has generously agreed to participate by offering prizes to those who visit and take a photo of him/herself with the benches. What you must do, with a minimum effort, in order to get the prize,

2- Sponsor Picture Day – Optional to sponsors)
We’re looking for great pictures of you, your staff and/or customers with your bench. Original, community-based, fun, unique…. what works for you.
- You can schedule your picture day any time prior to Oct. 1.
- Take the picture and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org
- At the auction we’ll have a sponsor wall showing off all your fabulous pictures and have folks vote for their favorite.
3- Back to the Back
Many of our benches have very interesting backsides. In conjunction with Back to School, we plan to have a “Back to the Back” 20 question quiz, hopefully in the Vienna Voice. No prizes involved, but we’re scheduling it for this summer, right when parents have no more camps for kids and school hasn’t started. Something fun to keep everyone busy walking around Vienna. More about this later.
Rep Mark Keam took a selfie with the VAS artists and this bench which is placed at the Freeman House.
Many artists and Vienna citizens came for the kick off of the Take A Seat, Vienna project on April 13.
In The NEWS
It seems that not a day goes by that there isn’t an article written about our “Take a Seat, Vienna” art installation. The community has rallied around the Vienna Arts Society with hundreds of Facebook postings and scavenger hunts for adults and children. Every single piece is a phenomenal work of art. I’m sharing a few of the articles that appeared lately.

More about “Take A Seat, Vienna”
VAS held our opening ceremonies at the Freeman House on Saturday, April 13th at 9:45 -10:00 AM for the Take A Seat, Vienna project. This was to announce that the benches are now displayed around the Town of Vienna at or near the artists’ sponsors businesses. Our artists visited their locations and greeted their sponsors to see their bench; and take a photos of themselves with their bench in the exhibit location. Brochures designating the location of the benches were distributed to these sponsor locations.
“Take A Seat” Honored
It is exciting that Mayor Laurie DiRocco honored VAS artists on April 23, 2019, with the highest award for the Town of Vienna for our “Take A Seat, Vienna” art installation. Those participating artists and their committee were awarded the Volunteer of the Year award. Each was presented with a beautiful certificate. We are so thrilled to have so much talent and dedication in our center.
